Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama

For the second time, Louis Vuitton has invited the prestigious Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama to a creative encounter. This time to reawaken, evolve and expend the first one in 2012. The launch of this new collection is celebrated with a campaign starred by renowned models such as Gisele Bündchen and Bella Hadid.

“I am determined to create a Kusama world, which none has ever done and trodden into.”

According to Louis Vuitton’s web, this new collection reinterprets the iconic pieces of the Maison infused with the artist’s signature motifs. Yayoi Kusama’s dots (painted, metal, infinity) and psychedelic flower refresh the universe of the French Maison in a true celebration of art and craftsmanship.

They used an innovative serigraphy technique that reproduces Kusama’s brushstrokes, giving a strikingly realistic hand-painted 3D effect. Also, applied by hand, one by one, various sized metal half-spheres enliven some pieces of the collection with a beautiful silver mirror effect.

Yayoi Kusama is an artist from the rural Japan, who achieved internationally success and recognition by the determination of her character, but especially by the power of her art. Her style is unclassifiable and today she is one of the most influential female artists.

What do you think about this kind of partnership?
